—— Do You Need Professional Air Duct and HVAC System Cleaning Services? ——
Debris, dust, dirt, and other matter can build up over time, lining the walls of HVAC System vents, air ducts, housing, and components. This restricts air flow and causes the unit to run less efficiently. It also sends microscopic particles back into your indoor air environment. if these particles contain toxins, such as molds or other bacteria, then the health of everyone in the building is at risk. Regular servicing that includes cleaning is recommended to extend the life of your HVAC System, and ensure air quality control.
How much build-up is accumulating in your HAVC System depends on each individual indoor environment. For example, if pets are present their fur and dander will be present. With children in a house, food particles and toy pieces can become an issue. Excessive dust from construction can cause build-up and create an environment for mold spores to grow in. Also improperly sealed areas and small holes in the metal will allow bugs, rodents, and even birds entrance to the HVAC unit. You really have no idea what might be polluting your indoor air environment from your HVAC system because you can't see into all those hidden vents.
1.) If you notice a build up of dirt, debris, or other organic material.
If you take a flash light and look in any of your air ducts, you can see how clean they are for the area that is visible (that might not be a long way). If you see any build up on the duct walls, then you will need to call a professional HVAC cleaning service.
2.) If you notice excessive dust build up on furniture, especially when you have recently dusted. If you dust regularly, yet continue to notice an excessive amount of dust or dirt on your furniture, there
is a good probability it is coming from your HVAC air ducts, and you will need to call a professional HVAC cleaning service. This can happen even when there is no dust visible in the ducts, because the vast majority of the duct work is hidden in the walls.
3.) If you notice a sour or unpleasant odor coming from the vents, regardless of whether the HVAC is running. Odors indicate something more than just dust may be in the duct work or even the system itself. Mold and bacteria can easily grow in these systems. There is a serious health risk to anyone breathing in
air contaminated with bacteria, or mycotoxins from mold spores. Spraying the air or visible surfaces with house- hold products will not do anything but temporarily mask the odor. Call a professional HVAC cleaning service immediately. If it is mold, you do not want to waste anytime. Get rid of it, and get the problem fixed as soon as possible. This is a health issue!
4.) If you notice your HVAC System is running less efficiently than normal. Everything breaks down eventually, but a quality HVAC System should last for years. However, overtime there can be a certain amount of dirt and dust build up. Even with sealed systems, the slightest pin hole crack and let in dirt and dust causing the system to become sluggish. You may notice that it doesn't heat or cool as well. There could be other problems, such as damaged areas where air is escaping, or parts needing to be replaced. This is why regular cleaning and servicing is strongly recommended.
